LLM Admission 2023: Your Guide to Entrance Exams

If you’re considering pursuing LLM Admission in 2023, you’ll need to start preparing for entrance exams. To make things easier for you, we’ve compiled a list of national, state, and university-level exams you can sit for to secure admission.

National-level Entrance Exams: CLAT, LSAT, and AILET are a few of the national-level exams you can sit for. Here’s what you need to know about them:

  1. CLAT 2023: Conducted for admission into 22 NLUs in India, CLAT is considered the benchmark by many self-financed law colleges and universities. To be eligible for the exam, you must have a 3-year LLB degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized university. You also need to score at least 55% marks for the General/OBC/SAP category, and 50% for SC/ST category.
  2. LSAT: The Law School Admission Test is an entrance exam conducted by Pearson VUE India on behalf of the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). To be eligible, you must have completed a graduate degree in law.
  3. AILET: All India Law Entrance Test is conducted by National Law University, Delhi, to select candidates for programs such as B.A., LLB, LLM, and Doctorate through AILET. To be eligible, you must hold a completed B.L. or LLB graduate degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).

State-Level Entrance Exams:

If you’re looking to pursue LLM in a particular state, you can sit for the following state-level entrance exams:

  1. AP LAWCET: This exam is directed at those candidates who are looking for affirmation in 3-year LLB and 5-year coordinated LLB undergraduate programs offered by different government and private law institutes of Andhra Pradesh. To be eligible, candidates must hold a completed B.L. or LLB graduate degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).
  2. AP PGLCET: This exam is conducted in various exam centers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. To be eligible, candidates must have passed LLB/BL 3/5-Year degree from a recognized university or college, with a minimum of 50% (for general) and 45% (for SC/ST category) aggregate marks.
  3. TS PGLCET: This test has a total of 120 questions, divided into 3 parts, and the duration of the test is 90 minutes. To be eligible, candidates must possess LLB or BA LLB degree (3 or 5 years) or have appeared for the final year examinations in the same year.

University-Level Entrance Exams:

  1. DU LLM Entrance Exam: Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of Delhi University, this exam is accepted by Delhi University. To be eligible, students should clear either the 3 years or 5 years LLB degree with 50% for general, 45% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST.
