FMGE 2023: The Selection Process
As previously mentioned, FMGE 2023 is a licensing examination. Attaining qualification in this examination does not grant the candidate admission to any educational institution. Successful completion of FMGE 2023 enables candidates to register with the Medical Council of India (MCI) and practice as registered medical practitioners in India. The FMGE 2023 Selection Process encompasses various stages, including the application process, issuance of admit cards, the examination itself, the result from the declaration, and issuance of pass certificates. FMGE 2023 Registration/Application Form
The initial step in the admission process for FMGE 2023 is registration. Eligible candidates aspiring to appear for the June session of FMGE 2023 are required to register on the official website of the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Upon successful registration, candidates will gain access to the FMGE 2023 application form. Subsequently, candidates need to provide all the necessary details and remit the application fee, which amounts to INR 7,080 for the FMGE 2023 examination. The NBE allows a correction window for applicants to make modifications to their application forms.
FMGE 2023 Admit Card Issuance
The admit card for FMGE 2023 is granted to candidates who successfully complete the application process within the designated timeframe, accompanied by thorough documentation. This document holds utmost significance as it serves as a mandatory requirement for candidates to be granted access to the examination center. The admit card comprehensively presents essential candidate details such as their name, date of birth, examination date, timing, and center address. Candidates can conveniently obtain the admit card by logging into their respective accounts. Subsequently, it is imperative for candidates to diligently review the admit card upon download to ensure the accuracy of all provided information.
FMGE 2023:
Examination Day Protocols On the day of the FMGE 2023 examination, candidates are obliged to bring the following items:
- FMGE 2023 admit card
- A valid, original, and non-expired photo identification proof (such as PAN card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, Passport, or Aadhaar Card) It is essential for candidates to arrive at the designated examination center on or before the stipulated reporting time specified on their admit card.

- Candidates are required to undergo stringent security procedures at the examination center, including frisking through the use of metal detectors, as well as biometric verification.
- Only candidates who have been issued the admit card for FMGE 2023 will be permitted to participate in the examination.
- Due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the FMGE 2023 admit card will feature a barcode for enhanced security.
- In the current year, finger biometrics will not be captured; instead, Face ID verification will be employed.
- Candidates are allowed to bring the following items to the examination center
- Face mask
- Gloves
- Personal transparent water bottle (as water dispensers will not be available, candidates will be provided with bottled water)
- Personal hand sanitizer in a transparent bottle (not exceeding 50 ml)
- Examination-related documents (such as the admit card, ID card, etc.)
- Individuals accompanying the candidate, such as friends or relatives, will not be granted entry into the examination hall.
The following items are strictly prohibited within the examination hall:
- Stationery items, including books, notes, plastic pouches, geometry boxes, writing pads, erasers, pens, pencils, etc.
- Electronic devices, such as mobile phones, calculators, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, smartwatches, etc.
- Food items, beverages, water bottles, etc.
- Personal belongings, including wallets, goggles, handbags, caps, belts, etc.
FMGE 2023 Exam Pattern:
The FMGE 2023 June session will be conducted online at designated centers determined by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The exam will consist of two parts, each containing 150 questions. Candidates will be allocated 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete each section. Negative marking will not be applicable in the examination.
FMGE 2023 Result:
The NBE will declare the FMGE 2023 result on its official website, nbe.edu.in, on August 30. The result will include the candidates’ roll numbers, the marks obtained (out of 300), and their qualifying status. Candidates who secure a minimum of 50 percent of the total marks (300) will be considered qualified in the examination. Successful candidates will be eligible to receive the provisional registration certificate from either the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the State Medical Council (SMC). The scorecard can be downloaded by qualified candidates using their unique user ID and password.
Pass Certificates:
Candidates who pass the examination will be issued Pass Certificates for FMGE 2023. These certificates must be collected in person from the National Board of Examinations (NBE) office. Upon presentation of this certificate to the Medical Council of India (MCI), candidates will be issued their registration certificates and will be eligible to practice medicine in India. It is mandatory for candidates to present the original documents and collect the certificate in person.
